Property values up for first time since 2007

The recession has drained countywide property values of nearly 40 percent of their worth over the past five years. But a new report suggests the hemorrhaging might have stopped for the most part.

Preliminary estimates by Property Appraiser Villie Smith's office indicate the taxable value of all property countywide has increased for the first time since 2007.
