We Put Florida First

A word

From our President

Welcome and thank you for visiting our FAPA website!

The Florida Association of Property Appraisers (FAPA) was founded in 1989 with the goal of providing a forum for the sharing of ideas to better serve the taxpayers of Florida.  Our Association hosts regular educational and legislative conferences throughout Florida to ensure our members stay up to date on the issues facing our taxpayer constituency.  Our Association plays an active role in shaping property tax policy by continuously communicating our constituents’ concerns and needs to our State Legislators.  During legislative sessions, we closely monitor bills under consideration by both houses of the legislature, provide administrative insight to individual policymakers, and coordinate communication with various taxing authorities.

Since its inception, FAPA has been at the forefront of assessment issues including the creation and implementation of Save Our Homes and the non-homestead assessment limitations.  Most recently, FAPA was influential in the passage of a constitutional amendment to the Long-Term Senior exemption.  The recent change protects long-term low income property owners over the age of 65 from losing their exemption.

These accomplishments would not have been possible without the continued service of our valued members and legislative partners.

I’m looking forward to working with our community during the upcoming legislative session.

Warm regards,

Akin Akinyemi

President
